Prayer simply means "conversation directed to God". There are no special words or specific rules to prayer, other than the simple basics Jesus modeled to His disciples in Matthew 6:9-13. If our hearts meditate upon God, He is listening as a loving parent, and interprets even our moans and sighs. The promise of unsurpassable peace and joy is ours, even in the midst of tribulation.  If this is your hope, pray in this manner:

God, I need you. I know that I am a sinner. I have done things that I know are wrong. I'm sorry... please forgive me. I believe that Jesus came to die on the cross, in my place, to take away my sins. I believe that He was buried, and on the third day, rose from the grave. I believe that He is ascended into heaven and sits at Your right hand. Please write my name in the Lamb's Book of Eternal Life. I open the door of my heart and ask that You would come inside of me by the power of Your Spirit. Lord, reveal Your presence in my life as I live for You. Bring all of the fruit of Your Holy Spirit upon my life that I may live abiding in your abundance, until the day that I finally see You face to face.
In Jesus' name I pray, Amen!
