For the past several years, volunteers from Maranatha Chapel have helped collect and deliver Angel Tree gifts during the holidays to the Villas Nursing Home in Rancho Bernardo.

This year, gift tags are available in the church foyer beginning Nov. 29, giving participants a chance to bless the residents of Villa Monte Vista Nursing Home.  Gifts must be returned by December 14.  For more information, contact Stephen and Marianne Patterson, 619-286-1792.


Visiting a nursing home isn't always easy. It can be hard to leave your own troubles behind, and tend to the troubles of the people you visit. To speak loudly to deaf ears, to look into blind eyes, and to hold hands with someone aging with difficulty can be hard, but it is so important.

Nursing Home outreach is one of the most challenging fields of volunteering, but also one of the most rewarding.

This holiday event is just part of an ongoing ministry to local elderly and shut in people, working through Sonshine Society, whose mission is to minister to people living in nursing homes or long term care facilities.
