"There are those who are called to leave home and serve as missionaries, and others who are called to be senders, providing support and encouragement to those serving abroad," said Gary Lawton, our missions pastor, at Marantha's recent Impact Your World Missions Conference. These senders, through their steadfast prayers, encouragement and support, have a tremendous impact on the lives of the missionaries, their families and those to whom they are ministering.

That's why we encourage supporters of our missionaries to develop Impact teams, a group of believers who feel called to support and encourage a particular missionary.  By working together as a team, they can pray together, plan helpful projects that will aid the missionary's work, help raise support when necessary, arrange for specific needs to be met and make sure someone is praying, corresponding and caring about that missionary at all times.  Some of our Impact teams also help when their missionary comes into town for a furlough, by arranging get-togethers, transportation, and places to stay.

As Pastor Gary said, the "senders" are a vital part of any missions programs.
