Dear Africa Mission Trip Applicant:

Thank you for your interest in becoming part of the Maranatha Chapel & outreach team to Africa.  We are excited to participate in the Lord’s work there in the early summer of 2006. The following is a brief description of what we will be doing while in-country. Two teams are being formed for two destinations. Each location will have a different focus, but both will have a discipleship theme.

Uganda Team - will work with Calvary Chapel Kampala to participate in evangelizing in the city of almost 2 million.  The focus of the trip will be discipleship and training of pastors & church leaders for CC Kampala and surrounding churches to equip them in God’s biblical truths.  This will be in addition to a pastors’ conference led by Pastor Ray. Team members will be involved in the various aspects of this outreach depending on their gifts and talents. In addition to all this we will participate in children’s ministry workshops for the youth.

Kenya Team - will work with Calvary Chapel Nairobi, similar to what the Uganda team will be doing with Pastor Ray holding a pastors’ conference but we will be more structured with a conference theme throughout the week teaching bible based workshops for adults on topics focused on family, marriage, children and worship. Also a huge need is discipleship of the youth on God’s plan for marriage and HIV/AIDS awareness.  We will have a small team of women going to the Imani orphanage of abandoned children, a small group of experienced painters to paint CC Nairobi and some will spend some time evangelizing in the slums of Nairobi.

An orientation meeting is scheduled for Saturday March 4th, 2006 in the Fellowship Hall, after service (about 7:45pm).  You are encouraged to attend this meeting that will provide an overview of the trip, tell about our ministry plans and allow time for questions.

We will depart San Diego Airport on Wednesday June 14th and return on Friday, June 30th, 2006.  Total cost for this trip is $2,800.00 per person.  This cost includes your air, rooming, most (not all) meals and ministry supplies.  Everyone must show proof of valid passport four weeks prior to departure.

Your completed application with testimony attached is due in the church office no later than Sunday, March 12th, 2006.  Place your application in a sealed envelope Attn: Jessica -Africa Missions. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. 

In order to assemble an effective team, all applications will be thoroughly reviewed.  Team candidates are subject to approval.  You will be contacted regarding acceptance via letter by the end of March 2006.
