BEING A ROOM HOSTESS
Ladies,
Thank you so much for volunteering to be a room hostess and reaching out to the ladies by making them feel welcome. We appreciate your willingness to serve Jesus by showing them love and attention in this way.
Here are some ways that you may want to consider blessing your group of roommates:
- Demonstrate "love" to the ladies in your room. Try to make them feel comfortable and welcome. Keep in mind we are all coming from different circumstances, some having a great day, others struggling just to get there, and to feel embraced will make all the difference.
- Pray for the women God will put in your room. Begin today and continue through the retreat. Some will come with heavy burdens, others overflowing with joy. Some will be shy, some outgoing, while others may be frustrated or hurting. Just pray that you can be used however Jesus sees fit.
- Be available to help answer questions (what time do we need to be at breakfast?) or refer them to someone who can.
- Introduce yourself as the room hostess. Leave a little welcome card of encouragement on their pillows. You may also bring a bottle of water for each of them, or a multi-pack to keep in your room.
- There is no need to supply gifts for your ladies. Your prayers and love ARE a precious gift! Let's remember what Paul says in Romans 14:29, "Therefore, let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another."
As mentioned above, the most important thing is that the women in your room have someone to pray for them before and during the retreat, and someone to embrace them and make them feel welcome.
God bless you for stepping up, perhaps even outside of your comfort zone! If you have any questions now or at the retreat, please don't hesitate to ask!
Your Ministry Team,
Lisa, JoDee & Jean
