Teaching Children to Delight in God's Word
Children, the next generation:
The Scriptures clearly and directly instruct us that we must not neglect to teach the next generation.
Jesus strongly encouraged his disciples not to look down upon the children or those that bring the children to him.
Here at Maranatha Chapel we see that children are highly valued by God and we desire to follow his direction and make disciples of the children.
Psalm 78
We will not hide them (The Words of God) from their children, showing to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he has done. That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children.
Psalm 1
"Blessed is the man that does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly...but his delight is in the law of the Lord...he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water...his leaf shall not wither.
Children's ministry at Maranatha Chapel includes the following ministries:
Special Needs ministry: Here we hope to serve the families who have children who have need of extra care and attention. This class is during our 10:30 Sunday morning service in room C-103.
Nursery: Here we hope to plant the seeds of faith and trust in God. For the young ones up till two years old. Our nursery entrance is on the east side of our sanctuary building. While facing the main sanctuary go to the right and proceed up the walkway; turn left and proceed to the nursery registration counter.
Preschool: Here we hope to begin the journey of learning the true stories in the Word of God. We minister to the two to five years olds in classroom environments which include songs, games, Bible lessons, crafts and snacks in a safe and secure surrounding.
Elementary: Here we hope to settle them in the Word of God and help them live fruitful obedient lives that honor God. We have classrooms for the young readers in first grade up to the preteens in fifth grade.
Body Builders: Here we hope to teach children to turn Biblical truth into action. This is our teen service ministry in which we give the kids an opportunity to learn how to serve others and support teachers and even teach the younger children as they develope their teaching skills.
Others:
We also have a great AWANA program during our Sunday evening service; a Wednesday evening Royal Ranger program; a Saturday evening divorce care class for children and adults; and our summer programs which include our VBS and sports camps.
Within these ministries we are attempting to partner with parents in the very impotant job of making strong disciples that delight in the Word of God and take such strength in their Heavenly Father that when the trials of life come they will be like those strong trees who will not fall or fail to live fruitful lives for him.
